October Update

It has been one heck of a month, but I do believe that things will calm down a bit now. I am still adjusting to a VERY different line of work, and Joe is adjusting to having a working wife again, lol. Liam is doing great! He had a cyctoscopy, ureteral reimplant surgery, and a circumcision all on 10/16. He is doing remarkeably well all things considered and we are all happy to be home again. Our hospital stay was cut is half because he is a super trooper and bounced back quickly.

I go back to work Tuesday, but thankfully we have family and friends helping us out this coming week so he can stay home and heal all week. These were taken the day after he came home from the hospital:

Surgery? What surgery? He was feeling pretty good (thanks to his medicine)!
There will be an update following Halloween so I can post a pic of him in his costume!

Is it REALLY October 9th already?!

I have been TERRIBLE at updating this, but will try to stick to a twice-a-month thing from now on. I am hoping things calm down a bit soon and we can all catch our breath at home for a bit, but we have to get through the next 1-2 weeks first.

For starters, I have a new job working at at a local Preschool. It is VERY different for me to go from middle school English curriculum to such little ones, but I enjoy it and LOVE having Liam come to work with me each day. He is right down the hall and I take my breaks visiting him.
Last weekend was the Fouhey October birthdays celebration. We had a nice day in Danvers and celebrated birthdays for me, Kerry, and Dad with all the kids. Thanks for the great day, Grammy!
Liam and I have already caught the first bug floating around the school, but that is to be expected with so many young kids around. We are on the mend and planning to head to the Berkshires for a Hanson family party.
Next week is going to be a BIG week for Liam. He is having his surgery and will be spending a few days at Children's Hospital (poor kid). I'll update the blog post-surgery!

Newport Vacation

We had a great trip to Newport, RI this past week. What a blast! Liam is a little beach baby for sure!

GOT CEREAL??

Today's adventure = Liam's first "meal" of cereal! He loved it! He doesn't have those cheeks for nothing!!!

BTW, according to his 4-month appointment, he is about 16 lbs. and 25 inches long. Maybe since he's stretched out a bit his legs will fit into his clothes better, lol!

It is a whole new world now!

I cannot believe that over the past 2 weeks Liam has "grown up" so quickly! We had to change all the straps in the car seat, strollers, and anything else that buckles. He is rolling, sitting, too big for his baby toys (bye-bye bouncy seat) and prefers to bounce away in the doorway or on his new Baby Einstein contraption. Emma and Liam are suddenly fast friends, with kisses and hugs. emma actually enjoys the attention Liam gives and makes him laugh with her whiskers. It is so fun to watch and so sad to see how quickly things have changed already.

Oh no!!! My knee!!!

Well, I apparently wasn't ready to up the workout and have re-injured my IT Band - Grrrr! I start my PT tomorrow to try and get it ready for tennis and at least other exercise. Maybe running will have to be a 1-mile warm up thing for longer than I thought. As it is I require heat before and ice after and have been told I need a brace (bummer). While disappointing, I really have to remind myself that being active at all is a gift that not too many years ago I was praying for. My back feels great (other than the normal mommy aches from lifting our beefcake baby) and I am holding on to the knowledge that I can do other things for now that will make me feel physically fit and able to keep up with our growing boy.

I am still doing my marathon walk but am now up in the air about my 5K and my 7-mile Falmouth run next month....I wonder if they allow walkers??

Liam's Baptism

Liam's big day!

Sunday, July 13th, Liam John was Baptized at St. Michael's Parish in North Andover. He was such a good boy! Liam wore the same gown Kerry, me, Kaitlin, and William have worn and my Nana prepared it perfectly for his big day. Thanks, Nana! Auntie Kerry and Uncle John were wonderful and we are so happy for our son because he has so many people that just love him so much.

Liam likes his Kelty carrier. We took it to the beach on 7/3 before the fireworks. Maybe next year we'll be able to stay and watch them ;-p

Our lil' piggy

We took Liam to his first BBQ cook-off and couldn't resist this photo-op! ;-p

Hi there! Okay, so I started this one day a month or so ago and haven't done anything to it since. Things are busy as usual around here, but I'll give a brief summary of the past month's events:
1. I was offered a job in Reading as their 8th grade English Teacher.
2. Liam keeps growing! He "talks," belly laughs, and likes to hang out on his side.
3. We have found "the" day care for Liam to attend this fall after Mommy went to a bunch and wondered if she'd ever find one she liked enough.
4. Joe and his dad installed a new sink in the kitchen - YIPEEEE! I am thrilled!!!!!
5. We had a belated anniversary/1st family trip to Ogunquit, ME and had a blast.
6. Daddy actually (finally) tackled not one but TWO "dirty" diapers - independently - WOW ;-p
7. Liam keeps on growing! He just rolled over and back again 7/7/08 and cracks himself up!
8. Mommy is back at the gym 3-4 days/week, but not able to keep up with her pre-Liam pace of running four 5 Ks/week just yet. It just feels good to be back there, though. I'm doing 2 miles per run and strength training. Hopefully I'll get my running form back soon enough. Liam loves his Cedardale care-givers, too. He has so much fun there!
9. Liam's baptism is 7/13/08 - So big so fast!
10. I have my all-day MTEL 7/19 and then hope to re-join the land of the living and enjoy my summer more :-) Wish me luck!!!
Joe and I are amazed every day at how much Liam has changed and how much we have changed. He is such a wonderful baby and really a blessing. Joe is really enjoying his time after work when the two of them "hang out" so I can make dinner. Liam thinks Daddy is a riot and is always laughing and reacting to him. It is so cool to see! We love our little man and couldn't be happier these days. It may have been a long, tough road to get here, but I have a hard time remembering all of that these days. Now I know this was the plan all along...

on April 25, 2008 our dreams came true. We finally met our son, Liam John an brought him home. Our lives have changed dramatically and we couldn't be happier. I have friends with family blogs and it has always been nice to check in and see how they are doing. I thought I would give it a try. Take a peek into our family and see how quickly Liam grows!
